High-Risk Pregnancy Specialist
Dr Robin Thurman is a fully qualified high-risk pregnancy Obstetrician in Melbourne, with advanced training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and has completed further training in Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU). Her special interests are:
- Twin pregnancies
- Women with a history of pregnancy complications
- Preterm deliveries
- Pregnancy loss
- Fetal anomalies
- Pre-existing maternal medical conditions (eg diabetes, cardiac conditions, autoimmune diseases and epilepsy)
She also conducts pre-pregnancy counselling to plan ahead and minimise pregnancy complications.
Robin also enjoys looking after women with low-risk pregnancies.
Originally from Ballarat, Robin completed her medical degree at The University of Melbourne. She undertook her initial Obstetric and Gynaecology training at The Mercy Hospital for Women and The Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne.
In 2014 Robin completed a Fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) at Mount Sinai Hospital through The University of Toronto. This internationally, highly competitive role enabled Robin to gain ultrasound experience, conduct research, participate in fetal interventions and in-utero surgeries whilst working with world leaders in the field of high-risk pregnancies.
Robin is also a staff specialist at The Royal Women’s Hospital performing ultrasounds and conducting clinics specialising in high risk pregnancies for either mother or baby. She is involved in trainee mentoring, ongoing research and has presented at international conferences.
In her spare time Robin enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughters whilst staying fit, travelling, watching live music and attending the theatre.
