For Dr. Leah Xu, Obstetrics and Gynaecology have always been a lifelong passion. From her university days, she has been captivated by pregnancy and childbirth, and feels incredibly fortunate to have found a field that brings so much joy and positive change to families.
Leah considers it a privilege to be part of such life-changing moments and loves building lasting relationships with her patients throughout their pregnancy journey. She takes the time to ensure her patients feel both informed and supported during their antenatal visits, providing comfort and education at every step. Leah is known for her warm, friendly, and professional manner, and her dedication to offering individualised care that caters to the unique needs of each person.
As part of her care, Leah offers regular scans in her consulting rooms. In particular, Leah performs third trimester growth scans at select appointments.
Born in Shanghai, China, Leah moved to Australia at the age of 12 with her family. She completed her medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 1997 and went on to complete her Specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology training. Leah’s outstanding performance in the Australian and New Zealand Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Specialist Examination earned her the Gold Medal. She further expanded her skills by undertaking a fellowship in Laparoscopic Surgery at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne. Leah offers pregnancy care in both English and Mandarin, ensuring her patients feel comfortable and understood.
In addition to her private practice, Leah is a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Frances Perry House and the Royal Women’s Hospital, where she enjoys mentoring and training the next generation of doctors and medical students. She also serves as a training supervisor at both the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). Leah is committed to staying at the forefront of her field through ongoing professional development and attending conferences to ensure her patients receive the best possible care.

Outside of her professional life, Leah is a proud mother of three children: two young adult sons and a younger daughter. She enjoys finding balance through activities like pilates, traveling, dining out, musical theatre, and working on home improvement projects.
