Dr Perri Dyson

Obstetrician & Gynaecologist MBBS (Hons), FRANZCOG

I chose to deliver my three sons at Frances Perry House. I wanted a safe environment, with the available backup of expert paediatric care, and well-rested Obstetricians who were able to use their shared experience to optimise patient care. I appreciated having my needs acknowledged and being part of the decision-making process throughout pregnancy and in labour.

In my own Obstetric practice, my priority is to provide this environment.

I felt committed to becoming an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist from my first experiences as a medical student. I graduated from Monash University medical school in 1999 and entered specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology training as soon as possible in 2002. Since obtaining my fellowship in 2008 I have worked in private and public in both Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Mercy Hospital for Women and Frances Perry House. In particular, I have been part of units specialising in Dysplasia (abnormal pap smears), Laparoscopy (key hole surgery) and all aspects of maternity care including Antenatal clinics and Intrapartum care (Labour and Birthing).

I feel extremely lucky to be able to do the work I do. In Obstetrics the joy of seeing a baby born never diminishes. Gynaecology allows me the privilege of improving a woman’s health whilst preserving her dignity.

When not at work, I love to do outdoorsy activities with my three boys – camping, kayaking, cycling, swimming and running. I also have fun cooking, especially trying to sneak healthy seeds and vegetables into our snacks and meals. If I have a minute leftover, I sit and read a good book.
