Dr Stephen Lee

Dr Stephen Lee is a Melbourne-based gynaecologist and obstetrician with advanced training in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. He completed an Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) fellowship at the Royal Women’s Hospital under Associate Professor Catarina Ang and Dr Samuel Soo, mastering advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic techniques.

At Royal Women’s Hospital, he leads and co-founded the Acute Gynaecology Service, a world-leading service providing evidence-based, rapid management of gynaecological emergencies. He is also an integral part of both the Gynaecology 1 Unit led by Associate Professor Catarina Ang, which specialises in abnormal menstrual bleeding, and the Gynaecology 2 Unit led by Associate Professor Martin Healey, which specialises in endometriosis and gynaecological pain.

Dr Stephen Lee attained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from University of Melbourne. His Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) was attained through basic training at Monash Health and advanced training at Mercy Hospital for Women (research with Professor Susan Walker and Professor Stephen Tong), Nottingham University Hospital (urogynaecology) and Royal Women’s Hospital. He went on to complete a MBA at Melbourne Business School, a Master of Reproductive Medicine at UNSW and a Graduate Diploma of Information Technology at Deakin University. On sabbatical leave in 2025, he completed the Oxford Healthcare Leadership Program, attained the International Society of Neuropelveology Level 1 Certification in Clinical Neuropelveology, and fulfilled robotic surgery training requirements for both Da Vinci and Versius robotic surgical systems.

He is a visiting obstetrician and gynaecologist at West Gippsland Healthcare Group in Warragul and he is accredited at Frances Perry House, a leading private maternity and women’s health hospital, Epworth Freemasons Hospital, Epworth Richmond Hospital and Melbourne Private Hospital.

Passionate about patient-centred care, Stephen is a dedicated advocate for healthcare reform, medical education, and improved clinical practice standards. He is the co-founder of Stat Surgery, an innovative healthcare startup focused on surgical fee transparency. Stephen actively contributes to professional leadership and advocates for trainee support as the Chairperson of the Royal Women’s Hospital Senior Medical Staff Association and a Councillor of the National Association of Specialist Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (NASOG).
